FAQ

Community & Values

What challenge is EvoLabs addressing?

Communities often struggle to assign fair value to contributions, particularly those that aren't easily quantifiable, such as emotional support or community organization. EvoLabs provides frameworks that allow communities to fairly recognize these contributions and reward individuals based on their impact, aligning incentives with the community’s values.

Can EvoLabs help marginalized communities gain recognition?

Absolutely. EvoLabs is committed to creating systems where contributions, not identities, are at the forefront. Our goal is to help marginalized individuals or individuals who are operating on the edges of systems and society to find equitable opportunities by ensuring that their work is recognized in their respective expert communities fairly. By prioritizing contributions over identities, we empower diverse groups to thrive based on their real impact in the community.

Reputation (REP)

What is REP, and how does it function?

REP is a metric that tracks and measures the impact of a person's contributions to a project or community. When you engage with a project using EvoLabs’ governance tools, your work is assessed, and you earn REP based on how much it benefits the community. It’s a reflection of your influence through meaningful contributions.

How can I earn REP?

You earn REP by contributing to a project or DAO using EvoLabs tools. Your efforts—whether through technical work, community building, or other forms of participation—are recognized and tracked by the system. The more impactful your contributions, the more REP you gain.

What’s the difference between REP and Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens?

REP is your contribution score within the community—it cannot be traded or transferred. It’s a form of reputation accounting that grows as you contribute more. On the other hand, Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens are tokens tied to your REP and can be transferred, sold, or used in governance. They allow you to exchange your contribution recognition for tangible benefits.

How is new REP generated?

REP is created through the community’s feedback. When members appreciate or upvote a contribution, the EvoLabs voting algorithm generates new REP for that specific contribution. The system tracks interactions, and each community can set its own rules for how REP is earned and distributed, ensuring that their values are reflected in the contributions they prioritize.

Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens

How do I earn Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens?

Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens are distributed in proportion to the REP you’ve earned. Communities using EvoLabs regularly allocate these tokens to their members based on their REP scores. This ensures that contributors are rewarded for their efforts in a way that reflects the value they've added to the community.

What determines the value of Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens?

The value of Fungible Clients' Proprietary Tokens is established by the community that issues them. In some cases, these tokens can be exchanged for other currencies or used for governance decisions. Their value depends on how each community decides to implement them within their ecosystem.

Project & Governance

How is EvoLabs governed?

EvoLabs is committed to decentralizing its governance processes. Decision-making is driven by community consensus through tools such as governance tokens and town hall meetings. This ensures that no single entity has control, and the community's collective voice drives important decisions.

How does EvoLabs differ from traditional tech solutions?

EvoLabs isn’t just another tech platform—it’s designed to enhance human collaboration and support systems of governance that value all forms of contributions. It recognizes actions that are typically overlooked, such as community caretaking, and integrates these contributions into reward mechanisms, helping build healthier, more inclusive ecosystems.

Technology & Algorithm

How does EvoLabs track non-tangible contributions like emotional labor?

One of EvoLabs’ core missions is to recognize contributions that aren't easily tracked by traditional systems. Communities can use features like a “Props” channel, where members give recognition to those providing emotional support, leadership, or other non-transactional contributions. This is similar to a tipping system but the EvoLabs accounting in the WDAG automatically accounts for these upvotes in the Matrix community forum. We are also developing a tool called the "Creditor" that makes it easier for communities to assign REP for non-technical work.

How can I get started with EvoLabs in my community?

Get Involved with EvoLabs

EvoLabs helps communities build equitable governance models that value every form of contribution. Whether you’re looking to launch a DAO or improve your existing governance system, EvoLabs provides the tools to ensure fair recognition and rewards.

Communities with technical capabilities can begin implementing EvoLabs by following our . EvoLabs supports platforms like GitHub, Discord, and other decentralized tools to create and manage governance systems. For best results, we recommend that communities with high levels of trust and collaboration start experimenting with EvoLabs.
